For the family and casual visitor, we offer a unique and exciting day out, as you step back to a bygone era when steam power was the order of the day.

Trains run throughout the year- Daily from early-June to early October; on most days in late March, April and May; and on many days in October, November and December. In 2011, trains are also running on Sunday 23rd January and during February half-term week (21st to 25th).

Directions The railway runs five miles from Smallbrook Junction through Ashey and Havenstreet to Wootton. Trains call by request only at Ashey.

Travelling By Car - Enter PO33 4DS into your SatNav or head for Havenstreet (3 miles from Ryde and 3 miles from Newport) and look for signs to Havenstreet or Steam Railway. Havenstreet Station has a large FREE car park. The only other station with parking facilities is Wootton. There is no road access to Ashey Station and no road or pedestrian access to Smallbrook Junction Station.

By Train - Island Line electric trains serve Ryde, Brading, Sandown, Lake and Shanklin. These stop at Smallbrook Junction station on Isle of Wight Steam Railway operating days only.

By Bus - Service 29 or 33 to Havenstreet (operated by Wightbus) or Service 9 serves Wootton Station (operated by Southern Vectis)

For Visitors travelling from the Mainland there's a choice of public transport, either with or without your car. On Foot From Portsmouth take the Wightlink Catamaran Service or Hovercraft to Ryde, then train to Smallbrook. On Foot From Southampton take the Redjet to Cowes then bus to Wootton or Havenstreet. With Car there are car-ferry services from Porsmouth to Fishbourne, Southampton to East Cowes and Lymington to Yarmouth.
